ROOTS & ROUTES is the first comprehensive internet site designed to serve the keepers and presenters of America's history - and guide a world of heritage travelers to their doors.

America's founders were bold thinkers and entrepreneurs who wedded new inventions and ideas to the solid traditions of their forefathers. We invite you to continue their legacy by supporting the creative efforts of academic curators, historians, teachers, archivists and community volunteers as they shine up our national treasures and use the latest technologies to present them in new and exciting ways.

ROOTS AND ROUTES is a handmade, grass roots, public education and internet project. Our community-based education programs bring together diverse people of all ages in projects that celebrate and preserve local history. Our online heritage tours unite larger and smaller history providers and rationalize travel across themes, periods, regions and cultures.

Your support enables us to

• partner with museums, libraries and nature centers to produce state-of-the-art online exhibitions
• guide heritage tourists through the less-visited landscapes of American history
• bring new funds from heritage tourism to the rural countrysides and main streets that most need this positive development
• share the expertise of humanities scholars and conservators with local and family historians
• facilitate elder/youth oral history and writing collaborations and publish the results on the internet
• encourage interregional education projects based on historic cultural connections
