ADDITIONAL
EDITORIAL SERVICES:
Some websites
need more than spelling and grammar checking. Our editors have years of
experience in honing prose to sharpen meaning. They are sensitive to the
need to preserve your own tone and style.
If all or part of your site needs special attention, you can select the
level of additional service you need.
Level Two: Copy-editing.
We make suggestions for improving the clarity of your text by using the
“comments” function in MS Word. Our editor may question unclear
ideas, suggest different words or phrases, deletions, or structural changes
to improve the substance and flow of your message.
Level Three: Rewrite. Instead of suggesting changes, we simply
rewrite the sentences and offer one or more completed alternatives to
your original prose. In addition to striving for clarity, the editor will
pay attention to voice and style. (You will be queried first, regarding
the purpose of your message, its audience, and the approach and tone you
are striving for.) You may also ask us to write new material --for example,
a stronger opening, an illustrative anecdote, or a summary review.
Note that copy-editing comments are inserted along with the proofreading
comments, while rewritten paragraphs are inserted after the paragraph
showing proofreading marks and comments. This gives you the option of
accepting our editor’s version, or rewriting the paragraph in a
different way.
For example,
see our Demo.
RATES:
You can decide to add copy-editing or rewrite services either before or
after your proofreading job is complete. If you have already paid for
proofreading, but then decide that some sections need more substantive
editing, we will bill our editor’s time by the hour. If you know
in advance that you want copy-editing or rewriting, you can opt for either
level of service at the outset, paying a higher rate per word (Proofreading
is included.)
Copy-editing: $30
per hour or 5 cents per word
Writing and rewriting:
$40 per hour or 6 cents per word
